'SERIOUS TRACTION' takes place inside a body inside a room inside a screen inside a browser window. Limited to text and sporadic two-tone, diagrammatic images, the video conflates systematised behaviours – of language, medicine and intimate/public experience – through which the body is laid out, penetrated, assessed.

Structured around two near-identical locations, and two near-identical sounding words, 'A Is to D What E Is to H' is an odyssey between language and architecture. The mouth is the central adventurer, a portal for language and sensual experience.

In 2015, Phillipson will exhibit at Schirn Frankfurt, the Istanbul Biennial, Sheffield Doc Fest, Opening Times (otdac.org), and will be Writer in Residence at the Whitechapel Gallery, London and artist in residence at Wysing Arts Centre.
